LOTUS 1.0 (2021): Launched as a home-based tutorial initiative, pre-service teachers assisted school-aged relativesโspecifically those in elementary through high schoolโwho lived in the same household, supporting them with modular learning during the pandemic.
During the pandemic, pre-service teachers from Sorsogon State University conducted home-based tutorial sessions in basic education for family members and nearby neighbors. These sessions took place in their homes, garages, outdoors with makeshift boards and rooms, and even in local chapels

LOTUS 2.0 (2022): From home tutorial services, the LOTUS project expanded to localized tutorials in communities, further engaging pre-service teachers in supporting local students’ learning.

To expand their reach beyond home tutorials and makeshift classrooms, pre-service teachers from Sorsogon State University began conducting sessions in local school classrooms on weekends through the LOTUS project. Some tutorials continued in homes, garages, and local chapels.

In line with the Universityโs trajectory to deliver quality international education as it aspires to become globally competitive yet locally responsive institution, a ceremonial signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Sorsogon State University (SorSU) and Pinoy Reading Buddies (PRB), Inc., USA was held on July 24, 2023, at the SorSU Board Room, Sorsogon City Campus to mark the partnership for the internationalization of Project LOTUS (Localized Tutorial Services), an extension project of the College of Teacher Education.

LOTUS 3.0 Focus shifted to capacitating parents and community volunteers, offering workshops on child development and teaching principles.

On September 19, 2024, the Sorsogon State University – College of Teacher Education & Midwifery (SorSU-CoTEdM) formalized a significant partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to launch โ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐.๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ.โ The landmark event, held at the SorSU Board Room, was a strategic response to address the pressing issue of learning poverty in the Philippines.
